The Health Benefits of Onions

www.karenrothnutrition.com You know there are onions that make your eyes water and others that don't. What happens is when we cut an onion, rupture its cell walls, a specific phytonutrient allyl sulfate which is produced when sulfur compounds are released and that causes your eyes to tear up. And its this very same compound that is very beneficial in maintaining normal blood sugar levels. Onions also contain a concentrated source of Quercetin which has an anti-inflammatory effect and is often seen in natural allergy remedies. The yellow onions contain the most Quercetin while the sweeter onions, like Maui or Vidalia onions, the ones that dont make you tear up, will have the least amount of nutrients. This is because they are left in the soil longer, where much of their carbohydrates turn to sugar, which is why they are sweet, but at the same time, much of the nutrients are lost during the longer stay in the ground. So the stronger the smell, the healthier the onion is for you. Onions are also a very good source of chromium and studies with diabetics have shown that chromium not only decreases fasting blood glucose levels, but also decreases total cholesterol and triglycerides levels while increase HDL levels which is very beneficial for the heart. Onions are also high in fiber and Vitamin C. Known for their anti-inflammatory properties, this is a food that would benefit those with arthritis, asthma and consider eating onions the next time you have a cold and you are ...

This is a really great technique to burn off excess stress and adrenaline, and really let's you work the muscles intensely and expend some energy in a very discrete way. Learn more at www.Poker-Isometrics.com Let's face it. Poker may be the most high-energy and exciting game in the world, but the reality is that you play it sitting on your butt. We've all spent dozens of hours at a time sitting at casino poker tables or in front of computer screens-and we've all wondered "In the long run, is it even possible to play poker every day and still be fit and healthy?" The truth is that while poker demands high levels of mental energy, it requires virtually no physical energy or exertion. Even the longest, toughest poker tournament gives you far less exercise than playing a single round of golf. Meanwhile, suppressing and holding back your body's "Fight or Flight" responses to risk and frustration can fill your blood with damaging stress hormones. Stressed out, tense, emotionally upset, frustrated and Tilted, players can struggle to think and play well. The REAL secret about Tilt is that the emotional responses that cause it are visceral, hormonal, physical reactions: physical reactions not easily controlled by merely changing your thoughts. Obamacare's Hidden Monstrosities: A Disaster Waiting to Happen

08/16/2010 - www.RonPaul.com It has been months now since the new healthcare reform bill was passed into law. As is so typical, this massive piece of legislation was passed with a sense of urgency so acute that leadership declared America could not afford to wait until legislators, their staff and the general public had time to thoroughly read the bill. The truth comes out eventually, however. Much like the recently discovered exemption from Freedom of Information Act requirements for the SEC that was slipped into the equally massive and "urgent" financial reform bill, we are finally seeing what other insidiousness has been hiding in the fine print of the healthcare reform bill. It seems that all provisions in this poorly written and poorly conceived monstrosity need to be repealed as soon as possible. One such disaster-waiting-to-happen is one of the revenue generating provisions used to claim that the healthcare reform bill was "paid for". $17 billion in additional tax revenues is supposed to come from an onerous new IRS reporting requirement that any taxpayer with business income who spends over $600 in one year with one business will have to report those expenditures to the IRS. Mind you, this is a cumulative total of $600 in transactions in one year. This will involve so much extra accounting and paperwork that the IRS claims it will be unable to deal with it effectively, and even the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (to whom it should be a boon ...
