Raphael Mechoulam is an Israeli professor of medicinal chemistry and natural products chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. While working in research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1964 succeeded Michoulam isolation, structure elucidation and total synthesis of D9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main active ingredient of cannabis. This video describes what the THC in the brain, but also touches on the 1992 discovery of anandamide, which is also known as N-arachidonoylethanolamine or PACthat endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitter in human organs. If the connection is released in the brain is memory, appetite and pain. It was isolated and its structure was first described in 1992.
